MANPower - Men's Small Group

"Jumping into the Game"

"Recently I developed a metaphor for my spiritual journey. Please excuse the football terms. For most of my childhood, teen years, and early 20's. I sat on the bench, most of those years without a uniform. In my mid-20's, I finally moved up the bench and onto the sidelines by my early 30's. After attending the "Men at the Cross", men's ministry conference a few weeks ago, I realized I need to get into the game. What does this metaphor mean? For most of my life, I was a casual observer in Christianity. I was a Christmas and Easter church goer, never really attended Sunday School. I was raised with Christian values and principles, but not really educated in His word. In my early 20's, I met my wife, who helped point me towards Christ. After some time, I got more involved, but was perfectly happy following and being very casual with my journey in Christ. Teaching an occasional Sunday School class, going to a committee meeting here or there, attending service when convenient.

Over the last several months, I have been getting pushed towards something. I just wasn't sure where or what. I do know that I am no longer ignoring the force pushing me into service, but rather embracing it. Starting with teaching science and faith recently at Adult Bible School focused on emotional subjects such as Evolution and Creationism. Then recently delivering a message at both services and starting Men's Ministry called MANPower....Built in HIS image. The vision for this ministry is to equip men to start to change society one man at a time. The men will become the role models and leaders that God envisions for us. I am no longer fearful and willing to talk to those at my work about my relationship with God and my experiences. To borrow a term from Pastor Sparling, I am stepping out of my comfort zone and becoming intentional with my ministry. I hope you are so inspired to join me in this journey.

Thank you for your time,
Jon Stuart"

If you are a man or know a man that is interested in changing society's image of a male role model one man at a time starting here at Sanctuary, please contact Jon Stuart at jstuart@my.keller.edu for more details. We will start January 15th at 11:45 am.

Used Eyeglass Collection

This ministry project is being conducted in coordination with the Lions Club to collect used eye glasses and distribute them to those in need in Latin and South America. The Lions have partnered with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service for Humanity) to establish a distribution network to these areas. All we need is you! An eyeglass collection box will be set out in the narthex. You just need to do bring in the old eyeglasses you have lying around at home and drop them in the box. We will take it from there. We accept all prescription glasses and BOTH prescription and NON prescription used sunglasses. Do not be overly concerned about the condition of the glasses, as they are re-conditioned prior to distribution. This will be an ongoing project, so the collection box will be available for a long time to come. Questions contact Brian Hamilton at brianham@rcn.com.

Holy Grounds Cafe - THE Meeting Place After Worship!

Fellowship is an important element in the life of Sanctuary. Each Sunday The Holy Grounds Cafe is open from 8:30 am to Noon. Located in the Social Hall, the cafe is an inviting place to enjoy refreshments and warm conversation. A variety of tasty items are offered as folks are greeted and encouraged to relax and take in the spirit of Hospitality. In the Summer months we also provide an outdoor cafe, The Oasis located at the entrance of the church. Here you can grab something "to go" or, sit and enjoy a snack in the beautiful outdoors. These times of fellowship provide a great opportunity for visitors to meet new friends and share in the joy of fellowship.
